Clearbit

Clearbit's enrichment, now built into paid HubSpot plans

Overview

Clearbit was the best-known B2B data enrichment provider before HubSpot acquired it in 2023; it now ships as Breeze Intelligence, HubSpot's built-in enrichment and visitor-reveal layer. It enriches records with firmographic, demographic, and technographic attributes, shortens forms, and de-anonymizes website traffic into named accounts. The standalone Clearbit product has been wound down, and the old paid add-on is gone too: HubSpot's help center now states that data enrichment is available on Starter, Professional and Enterprise subscriptions and does not consume HubSpot Credits. In practice, if you pay for HubSpot, you already have what Clearbit used to sell.

The honest take

Where it breaks

The biggest constraint is HubSpot lock-in: with the standalone product retired, the value depends entirely on running HubSpot, so Salesforce or CRM-agnostic teams are out. Contact-level accuracy and visitor match rates are also inconsistent, which limits it as a primary source for outbound person data.

The verdict

If you live in HubSpot, the former Clearbit is now simply part of your subscription: enrichment is included on Starter and above and no longer burns credits, which makes it hard to beat on cost. Its company-level data is genuinely strong, but contact-level accuracy is patchy and the HubSpot dependency makes it a non-starter for everyone else.

FAQ

Is Clearbit still its own product?

No. HubSpot acquired Clearbit in 2023 and folded it into HubSpot, first as Breeze Intelligence and now as the platform's built-in data enrichment. The standalone Clearbit product has been wound down.

Can I use Clearbit without HubSpot?

Effectively no. Enrichment is built into HubSpot and comes with a paid HubSpot subscription. There is no meaningful standalone Clearbit product anymore, which makes it a non-starter for Salesforce shops or teams wanting a CRM-agnostic enrichment API — the HubSpot lock-in is its biggest constraint.

What does it cost?

Enrichment itself no longer costs extra: HubSpot's help center states that data enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits and is available on Starter, Professional and Enterprise subscriptions. What you pay for is the HubSpot subscription. Credits only come in for AI features such as smart properties, drawn first from the credits included with your plan (3,000 a month on Marketing Hub Professional, for example) and then from purchased capacity packs.

Is the data company-level or contact-level?

Both, but its strength is company-level firmographics and technographics — 40+ attributes across firmographic, demographic and technographic data. Reviewers consistently flag contact-level person data as less reliable and sometimes stale, which limits Clearbit as a primary source for verified outbound person data like emails and direct dials.

What is Reveal?

Reveal de-anonymizes website traffic, matching visitors to companies so you can identify which accounts are browsing even when they do not fill out a form. Match rates vary by traffic and region.
